Calgary Beauty & Glamour Session - Alicia
This is the second time I’ve had the privilege of photographing the beautiful Alicia. Alicia came in for a combination glamour & beauty, plus personal branding session. She did her own hair for this session, but her makeup was done by my talented friend, Rachel Jones Makeup Artistry.
Alicia is an incredibly talented opera singer and also a visual artist, so she wanted images that showed off both of her talents. She also wanted some updated headshots to use on her social media and business profiles.
For her opera side she wanted a Madame Butterfly themed look, so we had a lot of fun creating some images for here with butterflies, and flowers. Alicia also brought in a fabulous gold gown which made for some gorgeous and dramatic images!! Alicia is also a passionate visual artist and she wanted images that showed this side of her as well. She brought in several of her favorite drawings as well as some of her art supplies and an easel to help me photograph a variety of different images she can use to tell her story, and for her own personal branding.
This session made my heart so happy! It a very creative session which gave me a chance to play with different lighting, props, and posing, which was challenging yet so much fun for me! It’s always a good thing for a photographer to try new things and get creative. It was also really wonderful to get to spend more time with Alicia, and to get to know her better. It was also very fulfilling to help her to celebrate all of her talents, and to help her embrace all the wonderful aspects of who she is.
Most of my clients are women who come in for practical reasons, like new business portraits, but they often also ask me to create some beautiful portraits that they can give as gifts, or just keep for themselves. So many women don’t love the way they look, and they don’t feel good about themselves, so coming in for a glamour and beauty session is very therapeutic in a way. It takes courage to come in and do a session like this, but it helps them to see the most beautiful side of themselves, which may not be a side they see very often. I’ve literally had women cry during a session, or at their portrait reveal when they see that they truly are beautiful!!
