Family Sessions

Family portraits are so incredibly special to me! After losing several family members over the past couple of years it really struck home how important it is to photograph the people we love. It never seems like the right time, and it can be challenging to co-ordinate, but I guarantee that in the end you will never regret taking the time to do it!  My own personal family portraits are some of my most treasured possessions.

My own dad recently turned 85 years old, and as a gift we took an extended family portrait. I'll admit it was a big job gathering all the family members together and co-ordinate all our clothing, but the results were so beautiful and we are all so happy we took the time to do this.  As a gift to my parents we gave them a large canvas of the portrait and it is hanging on their living room wall.  And now that my dad has passed away, it has become a precious family heirloom.

Have your parents had a recent portrait done, just of them by themselves? I absolutely love photographing seniors!! They are such interesting people and I find that they are usually flattered to have their portraits done.  What a beautiful way to honor them!

When is the last time you had a family portrait done? Children grow and change, and loved ones leave us. Don't wait for the perfect opportunity. Now is the time! I try to take a portrait of my own family every year. I wish I would have done this as my children were growing up, but it's never to late to start!  I love having a portrait of my family on our wall. I have tons of quick snaps on my phone, but the portrait on my wall is the one I see and love every single day.  I also love having an updated family portrait to share on social media, and for Christmas cards every year.

All my family portraits are taken outdoors only, and the best time of year is from the end of May until the beginning of October. I also offer in-studio mother daughter portraits for up to 3 people.

Family Portrait Session Pricing

Family Sessions are $150 and include:

Styling & Planning Appointment: To create your portraits we will start with a Styling & Planning Appointment.  At this appointment we will talk about the style of portraits you would like, your wardrobe, as well as your choice of location.  We’ll also discuss hair styling and makeup options as well as how to prepare for your session. Your Styling & Planning Appointment is a great way for us to get to know each other and will help you feel more relaxed and comfortable on the day of your photo shoot.

Photo Shoot: My family photo shoots are all done outdoors and take about an hour, or so. I'll do my best to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera and will be guiding you through the entire photo shoot so you don't have to worry about what to do.  We will do a variety of formal poses, as well as some fun lifestyle shots.

Portrait Reveal & Ordering Appointment: Your session fee does not include any digital images or printed portraits, so about 2 -3 weeks after your photo shoot we will meet again for your Portrait Reveal & Ordering Appointment. This is when you will see the best images from your session and purchase the ones that you love. I offer digital images, portrait collections, and a variety or printed portraits.
