Calgary Headshot Photo Session - Katie

This beautiful young woman recently came to see me for a headshot session. Katie is a competitive dancer, and needed headshots for a dance school that she is applying for. This just goes to show that headshots aren’t just for corporate executives. Anyone who is trying to make a great first impression needs a headshot. Young people like Katie, who are applying for schools or job interviews need them too. Just think what kind of impression you’ll make with a high quality, professional headshot, compared to the cell phone selfies most other people use.

Katie’s session was so much fun!! Her session started with professional hair styling at Curious Salon. for headshots I always recommend choosing a style that is typical of how you wear your hair so your headshot is an accurate representation of you and you’ll be recognizable. Katie had her gorgeous thick hair styled into soft curls. Next she came to my home studio and met Rachel, my fabulous makeup artist from Rachel Jones Makeup Artistry. Rachel worked with Katie to find the right colors to complement her skin tones, her eyes, and the clothing she was going to wear during her session. Rachel is an expert at this so Katie looked amazing!

After her makeup I took Katie through her photo shoot. We used three different backgrounds and three different clothing changes so she had a variety of images to choose from. She chose to do some traditional images on my gray backdrop, some clean modern images on white, and a few dramatic moody beauty images on black. I directed her with posing and expression, and created classic headshot photos, as well as some casual images and beauty portraits that she can also use for social media and gifts.

It was a fun day and we created some gorgeous images that will definitely make a great first impression on her application. Good luck Katie!
