Has Your Graduation Been Cancelled?
Class of 2020! Did your graduation get cancelled? Did your prom get cancelled? I just want you to know that I’m truly heartbroken for you. Graduation is one of those special life events that rank up there with a wedding, or birth of a child for many people. It’s an event that celebrates how hard you’ve worked over your school career, and definitely deserves to be celebrated. Hopefully your graduation has only been postponed, and you will still get to celebrate with friends and family.
Hopefully too, you were able to have some graduation portraits done. Many schools bring in photographers early in the year to create cap & gown portraits for the school yearbook. If not, please know that you can still book a graduation portrait session, even later in the year. We can create some beautiful portraits of you in your prom gown, and if you missed out on cap & gown portraits, we can do some of those as well.
Just because your graduation portrait session might have to be held later in the year doesn’t mean that it still won’t be special. I photograph a lot of graduation portrait sessions and believe it or not, many of these young women come to me AFTER graduation. So there is no rule that says graduation portraits must be done before the end of June of your senior year.
Take Alisha for example. Alisha graduated in the spring of 2016, but didn’t come to see me for portraits until October of 2016. Can you tell by looking at the portraits? No, of course not. Yet we still created some beautiful portraits of her in her prom gown that she will have for the rest of her life as a memento.
Alisha chose to have her portraits done in-studio, but you can also have your session outdoors. You can choose to wear your prom gown, or you can wear something more casual, or do both!
Please visit my Graduation Session Guide for lots of ideas an inspiration. Some are casual, some are formal. Some were before graduation, and as you’ll see, several of the graduates featured on my Graduation Session Guide page had these portraits created AFTER their grads. In fact, if you prefer an outdoor session, I highly recommend waiting until summer since the weather and foliage is much more beautiful at that time of year.
All of my graduation portrait sessions include professional hair styling and makeup, and a 2-3 hour photo shoot either in-studio or outdoors. It’s really a lot of fun and a very special way to celebrate you! In fact I recently had a mom tell me that her daughters graduation portrait session with me was the HIGHLIGHT of her entire graduation!
Don’t let this unusual year stop you from celebrating your achievements!! Celebrate your resilience and create a beautiful memory with a graduation portrait session. Please visit my Grad Photos Portfolio Page for more ideas and pricing and as always, please feel free to get in touch to ask any questions you might have.
