Congratulations!!! There is nothing more exciting than being an expectant mother about to welcome a precious new life into the world. This is such a life altering time, and although it feels like it's going to last forever, it won't, so you need to capture it forever in a beautiful portrait. I know that you may not be feeling your most glamorous right now. It's tough to feel beautiful when you are swollen, bloated, achey, and stretched out...but you REALLY ARE beautiful right now. Getting your hair and makeup done, and dressing up in something special will make you feel pampered and make your beauty shine. Having a maternity portrait session will give you that little lift that you might need right now, and will be a precious keepsake for the future.
The best time for a maternity portrait is between 32-36 weeks pregnant (8 months). You want to come in when your belly is nice and round, but not so large that you are uncomfortable walking around or sitting & standing for different shots. You also don’t want to wait too long in case your baby decides to arrive early!! Another reason to photograph at around 8 months is so that you can display your portraits at a baby shower, and/or order prints to decorate the nursery, or give as gifts. If you wait too long your portraits will get lost in the shuffle of excitement that happens when the baby actually arrives. By shooting on the earlier side, your portraits get the attention they deserve!
Maternity Session $150
To create your portraits we will start with a In-Person Planning Appointment where we will talk about the type of clothing you want to be photographed in, and the location of your session. Do you want to have in-studio or on-location portraits? Do you want casual portraits in jeans and yoga pants, or do you want to have some fun and get dressed up in one of my feminine studio maternity gowns. Do you want to show some skin, or would you prefer to be more modest? Would you like portraits by yourself, or with your husband? It's totally up to you! Your session includes professional hair styling and makeup, so we will talk about that as well.
The day of your Photography Shoot starts with your hair and makeup appointment followed by the photo shoot itself. Plan to spend at least 5-6 hours with me! It's a lot of fun, and we will have snacks and break time because we don't want to tire you out If you feel a bit nervous and want to share the experience you can bring your along your husband, or your mother, even a good friend, but I will do my best to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. During the session I will be directing you through a variety of poses, including some traditional, some fashion, and some fun ones....but don't worry, they are relaxed and natural. As your photographer, my goal is to make you look your very best!
This session does not include any prints or digital images. They are purchased separately, so about two weeks after your session we will meet for your In-Person Portrait Reveal and Ordering Appointment. This is when I will show you the very best pictures from your session and when you can choose your favorite images...but that's going to be hard because you are going to love them all! You can get an idea of what's available here. My goal for your session is to create 20 or more unique images so that you can have a beautiful keepsake folio of the experience. Your images are best displayed in a beatiful folio box or album, but your favorite images can also be used for wall portraits, gifts for friends and family, announcements and thank you cards. Plus all of my collections include a mobile album that makes it easy for you to share your images with family and friends.
I love creating beautiful maternity portraits and can't wait to photograph you! If you have any questions about High School Senior Graduation Portraits, or would like to book a consultation give me a call at 403-680-8039, or contact me here.
"I had the privilege of working with Lorraine on a maternity shoot a few weeks back and can't stop telling people how much I enjoyed working with her. Her professional attitude and work ethic was exceptional and the shoot itself was absolutely delightful. She was organized, creative & really made me feel comfortable with the whole process. For anyone who is looking to capture a special moment, Mortensen Photography is an awesome choice to help you accomplish this. I look forward to working with Lorraine again in the near future. "At the beginning of July I had Lorraine at Mortensen Photography take my maternity photos. She was amazing and so easy to work with. I was wanting to do a little bit of a different shoot and include my husband as well and she was more than accommodating, picking great locations to shoot our photos. She also shot more traditional photos of just me and my bump and I'm so happy she did. It is really nice to get a variety of photos with my husband and on my own! She made me feel comfortable during the shoot and made it fun and enjoyable. She is a very talented photographer and does not disappoint. We can’t say enough about her or our maternity photos. Working with Lorraine was such a treat and we love showing off the photos she took."
"I had my maternity photo shoot with Lorraine at 35 weeks. I went in to my photo shoot with an open mind and fully expecting to have fun. What I didn’t expect was how special and beautiful Lorraine made me feel. Near the end of pregnancy it can be difficult feel comfortable and confident about how you look. I found myself tearing up during the photo shoot because I was so overwhelmed and happy with how I felt not only as a woman but as a new mom as well. I will forever cherish the wonderful pictures I have of me and my baby girl! Thank you so much Lorraine!! You are such a wonderful person and an amazing photographer!"
