Gillian, Abigael, & Isobel - Sisters Session

I've photographed these three sisters with their family a few years ago, and they are family friends, so I was glad to have them come back for a sister session.  Gillian is 15, Abigael is 13, and Isobel is 9, and all three of them are beauties!!

Since it was just the girls, and we were indoors, we were able to play around and try a few different looks.  I especially wanted to use my pink backdrop and create a very feminine look with flower crowns.

When booking a session with me you have the option of adding on professional makeup. I make it optional because I do a lot of sessions for teens, tweens, and children, and they don't always need makeup.  But today we wanted to play around so we started the day by doing hair and makeup with everyone, which was fun!   Gillian did her own makeup, with some direction from me.  Abigael has long beautiful hair so we gave her a nice soft curl, and a little bit of makeup. Isobel is under 13 so we didn't apply much makeup on her, just some pink lipgloss and mascara, plus we gave a bit of curl to her hair.

The girls also used a few of my studio clothing items so that we could get that feminine look. Abigael was super excited to wear my studio tutu, and all the girls wanted to wear my flower crowns, so the first look we did had a very feminine, boho feel.

Next we went with a another soft feminine but more casual look.  The girls brought their own jeans, but they are wearing a few of my lacy studio tops.  These images also look gorgeous in black and white.

Finally, we tried a darker, more dramatic look, and turned on the fan so the girls felt like super models!

We all had a great time at this session, and created some beautiful images.  I know these girls will remember this day and have some beautiful keepsake portraits of all three of them together.

Do your daughters have portraits together?  Do you have portraits with your sisters? Get in touch with me and lets talk about how I can photograph you.

Cadet Kendra - Tween Portraits

I had an awesome outdoor tween session yesterday with this lovely young lady. She's a brand new air cadet and wanted photos in her new uniform.   She's super proud of being an air cadet and told me how much she wants to fly.  She also plays the french horn in the cadet band.  The colors outdoors at this time of year went really well with her steel blue uniform.   It was cold, but she was a real trooper.   And just look at that smile!!  Great job Kendra.

Don't let the cooler temperatures deter you from doing an outdoor winter photo session. The muted monochromatic colors make winter portraits just gorgeous! Outdoor winter sessions work great for tweens, teens, grads, couples, and families with older children.  Book your outdoor winter session today!

The B Family

Summer is so short here in Calgary!!  The days are starting to get shorter and colder, and the leaves are starting to disappear.  Sadly, that means that there are less days available for outdoor photo sessions.  Yesterday was sunny, but also cool and windy, yet this brave bunch toughed it out and came for their family session.  The wind was a bit of an issue with all that long hair, but we still managed to get some beautiful pictures.  Here's a sneak peek.

Black & White

I just finished editing the children's session I did this week.   I usually like to convert a few of the photos into black & white version for some variety.  These turned out so nice that I had to share them!  And, I don't normally do "lifestyle" types of photos, but I got a really cute one of the kids having a tickle fight, so I had to show it too.  These would look great in a triptych frame, either in black and white or in color.
