Teen Session - Gillian

This gorgeous young lady came to have some casual portraits in celebration of the beginning of her Grade 12 year of high school.  Having some portraits done BEFORE grad is a super great idea!! You will have them in plenty of time to use for graduation announcements and invitations, memory slide shows, in a keepsake album, and of course for social media.  Gillian chose an outdoor session, but indoor sessions are also available. And for an extra fun day you can also bring a friend and do your session together. Contact me today to book your session!

Sweet Sixteen - Carolyn

This gorgeous young lady recently celebrated her 16th birthday.  The coolest thing about this session is that I also photographed Carolyn as a baby, so it was very precious to be able to photograph her again now that she is sixteen.

Not only is this young lady very beautiful, but she is also musically talented and plays both the violin and the piano.

I love so many images from her session it was hard to narrow down a few to show here,  but these are my favorites.  I also love the fact that Carolyn was brave and let me play around and do some fashion/couture looks with her.  We had a lot of fun with the tulle skirt and flower crowns!

Congratulations on celebrating this milestone birthday Carolyn!

Gillian, Abigael, & Isobel - Sisters Session

I've photographed these three sisters with their family a few years ago, and they are family friends, so I was glad to have them come back for a sister session.  Gillian is 15, Abigael is 13, and Isobel is 9, and all three of them are beauties!!

Since it was just the girls, and we were indoors, we were able to play around and try a few different looks.  I especially wanted to use my pink backdrop and create a very feminine look with flower crowns.

When booking a session with me you have the option of adding on professional makeup. I make it optional because I do a lot of sessions for teens, tweens, and children, and they don't always need makeup.  But today we wanted to play around so we started the day by doing hair and makeup with everyone, which was fun!   Gillian did her own makeup, with some direction from me.  Abigael has long beautiful hair so we gave her a nice soft curl, and a little bit of makeup. Isobel is under 13 so we didn't apply much makeup on her, just some pink lipgloss and mascara, plus we gave a bit of curl to her hair.

The girls also used a few of my studio clothing items so that we could get that feminine look. Abigael was super excited to wear my studio tutu, and all the girls wanted to wear my flower crowns, so the first look we did had a very feminine, boho feel.

Next we went with a another soft feminine but more casual look.  The girls brought their own jeans, but they are wearing a few of my lacy studio tops.  These images also look gorgeous in black and white.

Finally, we tried a darker, more dramatic look, and turned on the fan so the girls felt like super models!

We all had a great time at this session, and created some beautiful images.  I know these girls will remember this day and have some beautiful keepsake portraits of all three of them together.

Do your daughters have portraits together?  Do you have portraits with your sisters? Get in touch with me and lets talk about how I can photograph you.

Amy, Emily & Stephanie - Mother Daughter Portraits

These lovely ladies came to see me recently for a Mother Daughter Portrait Session.   Amy is in her 40's, which is hard to believe when you see how beautiful she is.  Emily is 19, and Stephanie is 13.

We did three different looks for this session and ended up with a TON of beautiful images. Here's some of my favorites.

We started out with a very clean contemporary look.  I usually take a group photo with every look as well as individuals of each person.

Next we went with a soft feminine look, which most of my clients really love.  It looks so beautiful in soft pastel colors, but these images also look amazing printed as black and white. I also like to take several images of each daughter with her mother and a sisters portrait as well.

Finally we did a darker, more dramatic look.  I also did a series of gorgeous individuals of Amy later, but I'm going to share those on a separate blog post.

Coming in together to do a session like this is such a fun girls day out for you and your daughters.  Not only do you get to share this experience, but also both you and your daughters will have beautiful keepsake images of your relationship.  Call me today to book a session for you and your daughters.

Hannah-Highschool Grad Portraits

This is the second of my 2017 High School Senior Grad models, my daughter Hannah. If you've been following me for any length of time you will have seen plenty of images of her over the years. She is graduating from high school this year, so this time I'm not sharing a test session with her as my model, but this is a real session, just for her, to celebrate her and the end of her school years.

Not only is Hannah my favorite model, but she assists me on most of my photo sessions, and is my number one fan.  She patiently listens to me blather on and on about props, and poses, and flower crowns, and backdrops, and makeup, and all things related to my photography business. She comes location scouting with me.  She comes on photo sessions with me and carries equipment, holds blowing fans, lights, and reflectors. She fixes makeup and hair.  She acts like a clown behind me to get little kids to smile. She encourages me when I'm unsure of myself. She stands in as a model when I need to practice lighting...even pretending to be a maternity client for me. Haha! And did I mention how much fun we have!!! You want to talk about mother daughter bonding! I am so incredibly blessed to be able to share all this with her, and to be able to spend time with her, expecially since she is a very busy young woman and has her own career goals and commitments.

I could write pages and pages about her, but that's because I'm her mom and I would probably go overboard, so instead I've asked her to tell us about herself.

How would you describe yourself personally?: I'm an introvert and am usually pretty quiet,  but when I'm around other people I can get pretty loud and silly.

How would you describe your style?: I'm not too sure. Normally I'll wear jeans with really any kind of shirt, girly to tomboyish. But I do like really girly things with lace and flowers.

What High School do you attend?: I'm homeschooled :)

What's your favorite school subject? Why?: I've always liked History because I love all the stories. I also really enjoy music and art because they're great ways to express myself.

What sports or extracurricular activities do you participate in?: I'm a highland dancer and I love it! The competition really pushes me mentally and physically.  I also really like downhill skiing, but don't get to go as often as I would like.

What are your big plans for the future?: I play the piano and the violin and have been training to be a music teacher. I already have several students and really enjoy working with them, so I want to make a business out of teaching music.

Hannah, it is always so much fun photographing you (except when we are both hangry...LOL!) And I am so proud to be your Mom. Homeschooling you has been such a blessing in my life. I've loved every minute of it, and wouldn't have chosen to do anything else. Not only are you are a talented young woman, but you are as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside. I know that the future holds bright things for you. All my love to you.
