Happy Spring!

Sunday was the official first day of spring...but those of us who live in Canada know that mother nature can be cruel!   My office window is cracked open and I can hear the birds singing...but it's a cold gray day and its SNOWING!!  And to make matters worse I just saw some stunning photos on my Instagram feed of the cherry blossoms in Washington.  Sigh....

So, to cheer myself up and to celebrate the official first day of spring I decided to post this lovely photo of this high school senior in front of some apple blossoms we had here last spring. Christine and her best friend came to see me because they wanted some warm, sunny, on-location graduation portraits.   Because I mainly photograph women I almost always incorporate flowers into my images.  So, I took the girls to Edworthy Park here in Calgary because it has a variety of spring flowering trees.  I was able to photograph the girls by some fully blooming Mayday trees and in a grove of these gorgeous pink apple blossoms.  We also scheduled their session right before sunset so we could capture that warm golden glow that they wanted.  The combination of the flowers and the light made their portraits very feminine. So even though we have to wait a bit longer for spring here it will arrive just in time to have some beautiful on-location graduation portraits done.  How perfect is that!

I am now taking bookings for Class of 2017 spring graduation portraits.  The spring flowers are only in bloom for a very short time which means that I only have a few spots available... so if you want to have them in your portraits you should book now!  To find out all the session details and to request your complementary consultation please click here.
