During the early years of our homeschooling adventure I regulary took my kids to Sears to have "official school photos" done. I usually ended up spending a pile of money on them, and was never really happy with the result, but we kept going. One year my husband asked me why I was taking them to Sears. He thought that I should try doing them myself since I was a photographer. So, I took his advice and started doing them myself. In fact, it was this suggestion that started me back into the world of photography.
My first attempts at school photos were not that great, but over the years I've improved my lighting and posing skills. I still have a little fine tuning to do, but here are the school photos I did of my kids this year. This session was bittersweet for me because my son is in Grade 12 this year, so these are his last "school" photos.
I know that there are other homeschooling families out there that don't have the opportunity to have traditional school photos done. I also know that some public schooling families don't always like the photos that are done at school. With this in mind I have decided to offer a "School Photo Mini Session". This session can be booked at any time since I do them in my home studio. I also plan to offer a school photo day in September, so watch for this on my blog and on my
The cost of the session is $150 and includes a 20 minute session for one child, and 5 digital images.
